Today is the 17th Ramadhan 1435 and as part of our Ramadhan Activities we have been learning about the Battle of Badr which took place on Friday 17th Ramadhan 2AH.

My eldest two children have been making their Battle of Badr Lapbooks. You can download the file for this lapbook HERE.

Here is how the lapbook looks when opened out. It is designed to fit into a single file folder (A4 size fold).

We used the book called ‘The Sealed Nectar’ to complete the various sections.

First are the basic facts: When and where the battle took place and the size of the two armies.

Next is a flap with a short explanation on the reasons that lead to the battle taking place.

This flap describes the first three face-to-face duels between the Muslims and the Quraysh and their outcome.

As the battle commenced we learned the du’aa of the Prophet, sall’allahu alayhi wasalam as he called for Allah’s Help.

This tab book explains how Allah responded to the Prophet’s du’aa, assisting the Muslims from beginning to end. Each form of help is mentioned in Surah Al-Anfal in 4 different ayat.

Next we learned about the story of the two boys who killed Abu Jahl and the kids wrote it up in this accordion fold.

We read about the outcome of the battle, how many died and what happened to the prisoners.

We then learned about the ayah regarding the spoils of war and how there was no legislation sent down from Allah at the time so the Muslims disputed between themselves as to who had more right to the spoils until Allah revealed the first ayah of Surah Al-Anfal.

Finally in this split flap the kids wrote a summary of why the Battle of Badr is also known as Yaumul Furqan and which Surah was revealed during the Battle of Badr.
