Sadaqah (Charity)

Today is the 7th Ramadhan 1435 and as part of our Ramadhan Activities we have been reminding ourselves about Sadaqah and why Ramadhan is a good opportunity to give charity.

We started out by looking back through our ‘Charity in Islam’ Lapbook.

Then we made a Sadaqah Jar using an empty chocolate spread jar and some craft bits.

The kids then added some coins from their own money jars, may Allah accept their sadaqah, ameen.

This afternoon my eldest two wrote about Sadaqah in Ramadhan using the ‘Charity’ page from our A to Z of Akhlaaq Notebooking Pages.

My 6 and 7 year old reviewed the Pillars of Islam and reminded themselves that Saum (fasting)is one of the Pillars. They completed two of the pages from the ‘Welcome Ramadan’ Workbook by A Muslim Homeschool.

My 10 year old completed her Day 7 page from the TJ Ramadhan Copy Work after we discussed the obligation of accepting an invitation to break the fast (at iftaar time).

Allah protect the ilm of your children.
You get so much done with them in a day.
I cannot keep my children focused.
How do you get them to continue throughout till the end.

    • Barak’Allahu feeki Sister, it looks like a lot but it’s only really around 2-3 hours a day, sometimes not even that much. It takes firmness and routine to encourage them and once they get started they just get into it and start enjoying themselves, mashaa’Allah. Besides they know it’s this or nothing as we have packed away the games consoles and limited TV/Internet time for Ramadhan … inshaa’Allah I plan to keep the routine going after Ramadhan as we have enjoyed having this creative, learning time together as a family, alhamdulillah.

I know it’s old fashioned, but if you struggle to keep your children focused, and I have problems with my 6 year old most days, alhamdulillah ‘ala kulli haal, but try a reward system, whether stickers or sweets or something of interest to the child, something that they can look forward to and feel a sense of achievement for having completed their studies.

Hope this helps a bit inshaa’Allah.

        InshaAllah will try that.
It’s more about me being organised.
