Helpfulness Lapbook

As part of our Weekly Theme Calendar (which often turns into theme of the fortnight) we focus on character traits and virtues. Recently we had been focusing on ‘Helpfulness’ for which I designed this lapbook for my daughter, Amina to work on.

If you like this lapbook you can download the templates by clicking on the links below:

This lapbook is made using two sheets of A3 card taped side by side and then folded inwards on itself until it closes as A4 size. Here is how it opens out:

The first flap at the top of the page displays the ayah from Surah Al-Mai’dah which commands helping others in righteousness and piety and not helping them in sin and transgression.

Explanation of this ayah led onto a discussion about the ways in which we can help others to perform good deeds and avoid falling into sin which is the focus of this flap book:

Next is an accordion booklet which included examples of ways to help others:

Below that is a flap in which Amina wrote about ‘Ways to Help Mum’.

On the opposite page are six vocabulary words which are synonyms of the word ‘help’. All the kids worked together to use each word in a sentence.

As the lapbook fully opens, the centre two pages contain hand print cut-outs and on each one Amina wrote one way in which she can be helpful.

On the end pages are language activities. This worksheet shows the different forms of the word ‘help’ used in a sentence.

This worksheet contains two columns labelled ‘Helpful’ and ‘Unhelpful’. Amina then had to read the statements on the second worksheets and stick them down under the correct column accordingly.

Finally, on the reverse of the lapbook is a wordsearch, a simple, fun exercise to reinforce spelling and vocabulary.

  3. As salamu alaikum Hope this email finds you in the best of health and emaan. It’s a great pleasure to see your creative Islamic work. Alhumdulillah u r doing wonders and am most impressed by it. Just wanted to make a small request. …I have downloaded your notebooking pages of the companions of the prophet. ..but unfortunately I don’t know much about all the sahabas. If u could give us the material too that we can write in it .it would be very useful. Same for your other notebooking pages too like the 10 promised jannah and the commanders of the muslim army. If I have the material handy its easy to explain to the kids. .. am unfortunately not very knowledgeable about islam . And my job doesn’t give me much time to do many things.

    • Walaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu,

With each set of notebooking pages I have recommended books and provided links to purchase these titles which can be used to complete the pages. I don’t have any other supplementary materials, sorry. We are working from the books that I have already mentioned.
