The 1st of April is fast approaching and for many around the world this is a day of practical jokes and hoaxes. But many people don’t seem to understand the negative implications of this day. Let’s break it down … What is a hoax? It’s a trick, right? Or to put it another way … it’s a lie. So April Fool’s Day is a day for telling lies.
Now to some this may seem like a bit of fun, but whatever way you look at it, it’s still a day that promotes and encourages both children and adults to indulge in the art of lying. As parents and teachers we spend our lives telling our children how wrong it is to lie, how we must always be honest and truthful, yet on this day, every year, we contradict ourselves.
So last night I decided to put together this lapbook for my children with evidences from the Qur’an and authentic ahadith to teach them about the origins of April Fool’s Day and why we will not be taking and what our religion, Islam, teaches us about the prohibition of lying. If you like the look of this lapbook you can download it HERE.
